Rehearsals - Year-Round Commitment
A UK audition-based Summer Theatre Project for talented young performers aged 14–18 who are passionate about developing their craft and performing on an international stage.
The Edinburgh Fringe Experience is a year-long creative journey, culminating in a summer of performance in Edinburgh. Rehearsals begin in either September or January, depending on the production schedule, and continue throughout the year in preparation for August. Alongside rehearsals, participants become involved in the many elements that bring a touring production to life. These may include local preview performances, marketing and publicity activities, costume fittings, press opportunities and other essential production commitments.
Being part of the company requires enthusiasm, dedication, reliability and a genuine commitment to working as an ensemble. All participants must be able to attend and fulfil the scheduled commitments associated with the project, from the initial rehearsal period through to the Edinburgh Fringe performances. Families should consider these time commitments carefully before auditioning to ensure that participation is realistic and manageable alongside school and other responsibilities.
This is an opportunity to experience the full process of creating, preparing and presenting a professional-style theatre production, developing not only as a performer but also as a committed and collaborative young artist.
Auditions
Places are offered through a competitive audition process, ensuring that selected participants demonstrate the commitment, enthusiasm and creative potential required to be part of the edfringe touring Theatre Company, SO Theatre.
Participation & Funding
A participation fee applies to all successful applicants, contributing towards the costs associated with delivering this unique Summer performance experience. Accommodation and travel arrangements in Edinburgh are the responsibility of each participant and their parent or guardian. As participants are under 18, a parent or responsible adult must accompany them and take responsibility for their accommodation and welfare throughout their stay in Edinburgh.
